Fierce and Beautiful Dragon Garden Statues

Ranier, the Sculptural Dragon RainspoutDragons can be mystical, enchanting, and wise, but we should never overlook their fierce nature. Many are the stories and legends of a powerful, dangerous dragon that needs to be avoided and/or appeased at all costs. To do otherwise might invoke its fiery rage and could doom the entire community. To resolve that perilous problem, the local villagers either send some sort of tribute or a hero to rid themselves of the beast. Hence, we have the legend of the dragon slayer but despite the danger associated with dragons, we continue to be spellbound by these mythical, magical creatures. They represent a fierce beauty that comes to life in fantasy novels and movies, and whenever they are depicted, the audience can't help but be impressed by their dangerous, majestic beauty.

You can bring that same detailed beauty into your garden with many of our dragon sculptures. The Mystic Dragon Avenger Statue shows the fierce side of the dragon with sharp details and a fanged snout. As it coils around its magic orb, this striking dragon somewhat resembles a gargoyle meant to protect your garden.

For a fierce and functional dragon, try Ranier, the Sculptural Dragon Rainspout. Put this unique garden statue at the end of a gutter and it will look as if the scaled beast is breathing fire every time it pours.

The Top Two Places to Put a Gargoyle Sculpture on Display

Gargoyle figurines have been used as decor for centuries. At first, they played a role as functional decorations used for scaring off supposed evil spirits and enemies of churches and Gaston, the Climbing Gothic Gargoyle Statuecastles but since then, have morphed into Gothic decor meant to act as classic decorations for home and business. That said, as with any type of decor, you can't just put a gargoyle on display and expect it to look both intimidating and incredible. The place where a gargoyle is displayed affects the nature of the decor just as much as the level of experience and imagination of the artist who made it. The best duo of places to put a gargoyle sculpture on display are:

  • Next to an entranceway in the backyard: Gargoyles are sentinels and guardian statues by nature. Take advantage of those characteristics and put gargoyles just past the gate to the backyard and just outside the back door of your home. Gargoyle statues like the Florentine Gargoyle and the Boden Gargoyle Sentinel are perfect for this purpose.
  • Hanging from a wall: Gargoyles are at home on the ramparts and walls of a castle, old cathedral, and your home. They like to hang out in high places to better intimidate and maybe even swoop down upon anyone who dares enter into their territory. Buy Gaston, the Climbing Gothic Gargoyle Statue to decorate the walls of your home or business with a fantastic classic climbing gargoyle.

Stories of Mythical Mermaids and Our Resin Garden Statues

Daydreaming Mermaid of Langeline Cove StatueStories of mermaids have enthralled and terrified sailors for centuries. The idea of irresistible beauties who charm men with magical voices to then drown them in the briny depths of the sea might sound like a ridiculous fairy tale in modern times, but in pre-scientific days, such superstitions were taken to heart. A lot of strange, unexplained things happen out on the open ocean and stories of mermaids were just one way of attempting to explain why some ships seemed to disappear without a trace, or why some sailors appeared to become enchanted and jump into the sea. Although we know now that rogue waves and bad weather are the forces that usually sink ships and that countless days on the sea with little food and water can cause hallucinations, mermaids continue to be a popular theme of cartoons, books, movies, and decor.

Although actual mermaids have yet to be discovered, you can find some of the more enchanting ones in our garden statuary collection. The Daydreaming Mermaid of Langeline Cove Statue is a classic mermaid statue that captures your attention with a finely scaled fish tale and other beautiful details. Measuring more than a yard in length and in height, this enchanting statue will charm both you and your garden guests. Pair this high quality garden statue withe colorful Melody's Cove Mermaid Wall Sculpture.

Find the best in mermaid statues, garden fairies, gargoyle figurines, and hundreds of fantastic garden statues at Design Toscano today.

Tips on Picking Out the Best Gargoyle Statues for Halloween

Gaston, the Climbing Gothic Gargoyle StatueWith so many gargoyle figurines in our collection, it might be tough to pick out the best gargoyles for your Halloween garden. Nevertheless, if you want to put out a truly frightening and unique display for this Halloween season, finding the best gargoyles for the yard will pay dividends in the form of screams, nervous laughter, and fun Halloween memories. Use the following trio of tips to find Gargoyle statues that convert your place into an amazing display of frighteningly good decor:

  • Go for realism: In general, the more real the gargoyle sculpture, the bigger the impact it has on guests. Your Halloween friends will love the look on the face of Socrates the Gargoyle Thinker Statue and will be impressed by its muscled appendages, sharp claws, and big bat wings.
  • Get at least one terrifying gargoyle statue: It's fun to have Halloween decor that provokes laughter and entertains our guests but what would this spooky holiday be without some truly scary decor? This holiday also calls for terrifying decor and Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows plays the part with sharp, pointed features, a menacing glare, and intimidating details.
  • Buy a gargoyle that hangs off a wall: With their bat wings, Gargoyles are far from terrestrial in nature. They actually prefer to perch on the ramparts and hang off of walls. Gaston, the Gothic Climber does this with ease and stares down at guests with an evil grin.

Find fantastic gargoyles, dragon statues, high quality resin garden statues, and more at Design Toscano.

Garden Gargoyle Statues for the Most Frightening Time of the Year

Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows Gargoyle SculptureFor most of the year, gargoyle sculptures play somewhat of a secondary role when it comes to garden statuary. Unless you have a Gothic-themed garden, they usually lurk in the background instead of being a centerpiece sculpture. That all changes during the month of October. As with so many other creatures of the night, the weeks leading up to October 31st are when gargoyles look best and these classic scary beasts look simply fantastic when used as Halloween decorations. The right type of gargoyle figurines can give your yard that extra bit of frightening, unique decor to make it one of the most memorable displays in town.

Greet guests with creepy gargoyle statues such as The Legend of Cambridge Hopping Gargoyle and Beelzebub the Prince of Demons to show that this isn't any old Halloween party. After they walk past and admire those excellent intimidating statues, turn your frightening gargoyle display up a notch with the incredible Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows Gargoyle. Scatheus lives up to its name with fierce details, a terrifying face, looming pointed bat wings, and claw-tipped hands.

Halloween might also be the only time of the year when a host of gargoyles are welcome inside the home. Entertain your party guests with the fierce likes of Talisman, Gargoyle of the Eclipse, and cute gargoyles like Babble, the Gothic Gargoyle Sculpture.

Find fantastic gargoyles for Halloween and every time of the year at Design Toscano.

Draga the Gargoyle Vampire StatueIt might still be warm outside but the cool, crisp days of autumn are just a few weeks away. As the weather gets cooler, many of us start to think about putting our favorite garden fairies, gnomes, and other resin garden statues back into storage. However, at the same time, we also need to start thinking about how we are gong to decorate the backyard for one of the most entertaining holidays of the year. Halloween is going to be here in the blink of an eye and a big part of that fun holiday is turning the backyard into a temporary display of haunting, frighteningly good decor.

This Halloween, instead of sticking to the same old cut-outs of ghosts, glow in the dark skeletons, and pumpkin-themed decor, reward yourself and friends with the gift of gargoyle figurines and get serious with your spooky display. Shock and impress guests with detailed and realistic gargoyles such as Draga the Gargoyle Vampire Statue. Not only does this finely carved fiend watch over your Halloween party guests, but it also wants to bite their necks and shows it with a sinister look and sharp fangs.

Give Gothic Décor a Modern Touch with Steampunk Items

Warwickshire Dragon Glass-Topped Coffee TableGothic decorations represent an especially unique type of decor for a number of reasons. They can be replicas of furniture and decor that hail from another very different time, are often associated with tales of horror and suspense, and may depict mythical creatures that are a lot less cuddly than a rabbit, horse, or even a bear. When we follow a Gothic decorating theme for a room, home, or garden, gargoyle figurines start hanging from the walls and flank entrance ways. Statues of knights and other Medieval-themed items make an appearance. Gothic furniture gives living and dining rooms an ornate, noble appearance. In short, your place becomes an abode of fantasy and Medieval charm. Nevertheless, you will make your place look even more interesting by injecting it with a bit of Steampunk.

Although the Steampunk theme is in a category of its own, it makes a very nice compliment to Gothic decor. Steampunk came out of Japanese Anime films that gave characters and their backdrops a distinct, creative blend of Victorian era designs and odd, industrial gadgetry. As far as decorating goes, the results are unique, textured pieces that come straight out of a fantasy world where people with enhanced robotic limbs occasionally battle monsters in Victorian-themed, industrial landscapes. This may explain why such fantastic Steampunk animal items as the Cyber Bat and  Cyber Leopard  make excellent additions to a Gothic-themed room.

Order these and other items from today until tomorrow, August 16th, and save with our Beat the Heat Sale.

With the Beat the heat Sale, you:

Save $20 on purchases of $100 to $199.

Save $50 on purchases of $200 to $399.

Save $100 on purchases of more than $400!

Entertain Garden Guests with Fantastic Gargoyle Figurines

Legend of the Cambridge Hopping Gargoyle SculptureWe use garden statuary for a number of reasons. A beautiful stone garden angel can transform an ordinary backyard into a classic place of peace. Realistic animal garden statues add a wild, beautiful touch to a backyard with carefully crafted details. Resin garden statues can also be used to augment the personality of your personal green space while reflecting your interest in the fantasy genre, a belief system, or love of the outdoors. Statuary can of course also be used to entertain guests and certain gargoyle statues accomplish this in a frighteningly easy manner.

Garden guests won't help but notice the Legend of the Cambridge Hopping Gargoyle Statue. The sly grin on the devilish face of this modern gargoyle shows that it is clearly up to no good. Resting on its haunches, it looks ready to hop through your yard on large, clawed feet, and take flight with long, bat-like wings. You can further entertain your guests by telling them that this gargoyle statue is inspired by unexplained sets of strange, hopping  gargoyle-like prints that have shown up around Cambridge, England on several occasions.

Beelzebub, the Prince of Demons Gargoyle Statue, is another sculpture destined to be a topic of conversation. As this detailed gargoyle sits atop a Gothic plinth, it ponders its next move with an evil grin.

Buy these excellent gargoyle statues and any other sale item from today until Friday, May 10th, and get a 20% discount as part of our Virtual Warehouse Sale!

Gargoyle Garden Statues that Climb the Walls of Your Abode

Gargoyle Demon on the Loose Wall SculptureGargoyles are dramatic decor no matter where they are displayed but they seem to do best when perched atop a castle wall or when leering down at folks who are walking in and out of a Gothic cathedral. Such situations were the first places where European gargoyles were used as decor and they still tend to look more impressive when crouched up on top of a parapet than when sitting on the ground. Although sculptures like the Legend of Cambridge Hopping Gargoyle look intimidating no matter where you put them, most winged gargoyles look right at home when perched on top of a pedestal.

To reach those high places they love, gargoyles could simply use their bat-like wings and fly but if the Gargoyle Demon on the Loose Sculpture is any indication, it appears that some prefer to creep up the walls of castles, churches, and homes like slinking miniature dragons. This frightening Medieval gargoyle shows that he is up to no good with an intriguing, evil grin. Pair it with the unique Catgoyle on the Loose Sculpture for garden wall decor that will give guests something to talk about!

However, no gargoyle wall decor theme would be complete without Gaston the Climbing Gargoyle. Sculpted with eerie, realistic details, Gaston is bound to be one of more intimidating garden statuary items in your collection.

Save on fantastic gargoyle figurines and hundreds of high quality decor for garden, home, and business at Design Toscano.

Dragon Statues for Spring and Summer

Ranier, the Sculptural Dragon RainspoutSpring is here and it's time to redecorate the garden. This year, why not decorate the backyard with a different theme? Instead of putting out the usual selection of angel statues and garden gnomes, try decorating the backyard with a couple of dragons. They don't have to replace the rest of your decor, but by putting a dragon statue on display, you show your appreciation for the fantasy genre while giving the garden a unique, dramatic touch.

Get your backyard ready for the warm days of spring and summer with dragon sculptures like Ranier, the Sculptural Dragon Rainspout. Put this Medieval-themed functional dragon sculpture on the end of a gutter to help channel water away from the house. This impressive dragon statue is designed to look as if Ranier is breathing fire every time it rains.

To help turn your backyard into a place of enchantment, put Dragon-Orb sculptures on display such as Mayze, the Dragon Protector of the Orb and Sir Sagremor's Dragon Statue with Orb. Mayze shows that the fantasy genre is that much more magical when humor is thrown into the mix. Poor Mayze seems to be more interested in taking a nap on top of the orb rather than ferociously protecting it and thus makes for one of the most adorable little dragon statues you will ever see. Sir Sagremor's dragon isn't exactly cute but he makes up for it with realistic, eye-catching details.

The Function and Symbolism of Gargoyle Figurines

Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows Gargoyle SculptureThe gargoyle is one of the more interesting and intriguing types of decor. Unlike animal garden sculptures that show realistic depictions of real animals such as lions and bears, the typical gargoyle statue shows a mythical, intimidating monster. Their appearance couldn't really be described as being pleasant in any way so it seems rather odd that they have been a popular form of garden statuary for centuries. However, long before they made their way into gardens, gargoyles were a common feature on structures for thousands of years. Gargoyles in the form of lions can be seen on ancient Egyptian structures and the ancient Greeks used gargoyles with leering faces on many of their temples. Although those gargoyles were used as sculptural decor, their main function was to divert water off of roofs.

During the Middle Ages in Europe, gargoyles had the same function but this was combined with a lot more symbolism. Gargoyles began to take on more frightening forms to scare off any evil spirits that might want to enter a castle or church as well as to remind church goers that the devil and his minions were always watching and waiting to tempt the unwary. In present times, we use gargoyles in the garden and on our houses because they are simply interesting, unique decor. Whether you display a cute statue like Emmett the Gargoyle or a masterpiece of terror like Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows, a gargoyle in the garden provides a dramatic touch.

Buy the best in gargoyle sculptures from today until April 11th and enjoy a 20% discount as part of our Pre-Season Garden Statue Sale!

Functional Medieval Home Decor for the Musician

Celtic Rosewood Tara HarpElegant decorations during Medieval times were mostly used by nobility and clergy because they were the only people who could afford beautiful, carved wooden tables, gargoyle figurines, or putting a striking stone garden angel on display. In modern times, we can view those antique works of art in museums and on visits to European castles but also have the chance to buy beautiful replicas for home and office. Some decor also happens to be functional, including classic instruments such as Celtic harps. The angelic sounds of the harp have entertained and mesmerized people for centuries and echoed off the stone hallways of many a European castle and keep. The beauty of the harp is just as apparent when this regal instrument is used as decor as when it is played by skilled hands.

The Celtic Rosewood Heather Harp is a fully functional replica of a 10th century, 22 string harp. This absolutely gorgeous instrument is decorated with traditional motifs, carved from beautiful tropical hardwood, and is wonderful decor for any Medieval or music-themed room. It's also meant to be played and this is why we include pitch shifters, tuning sets, and extra strings. Pair this classic functional decor with the equally stunning 12 string Celtic Rosewood Tara Harp.

Legendary Gothic Decor

Count Dracula's Coat of Arms Wall PlaqueGothic and Medieval decorations are inspired by a combination of history and fantasy genre tales. This type of decor includes far more than just a few gargoyle figurines. It also incudes breathtaking, beautiful furniture items, stunning wall decor, and hundreds of objets d'art. Some Gothic decorations are also inspired by legends that date back to the Middle Ages. One such story is that of King Arthur and his legendary sword, Excalibur. This magic sword could only be pulled out of its natural stone scabbard by the hands of the true king of England and when Arthur removed it from the stone with ease, his true noble nature was revealed. Our replica of this legendary sword makes a majestic display of nobility when hung on the wall of your den. As befits one of the most famous swords of all time, it's made from fine, stainless steel, is nearly four feet in length, and is etched with Medieval designs.

Another, not so noble legend is that of Count Dracula. The name for the world's most famous vampire was taken from a title given to Vlad III Dracula, a fifteenth century Wallachian prince who became infamous for executing thousands of his enemies by impaling them on sharp posts. The actual family crest of "Vlad the Impaler" is shown on the hauntingly regal Count Dracula Coat of Arms wall decor.
