Gargoyle Figurines with a Modern Touch

Socrates, the Gargoyle Thinker StatueGargoyles are a type of decor that have been around for a long time. Although we associate gargoyles with the Middle Ages, various cultures have been putting sculptures of scary creatures on sacred places for thousands of years. The dragons of Babylonia may not look like the gargoyles that decorate French Gothic cathedrals but they were probably likewise used to intimidate and scare off evil spirits. In modern times, we might not expect gargoyles to protect the home from evil, but that doesn't change their status as unique, mystical decor.

Modern gargoyle statues still resemble their classic Medieval predecessors but some tend to show more detail and display more human-like characteristics. One such classic gargoyle with a modern touch is Goliath the Gargoyle. Goliath's fangs and muscles are big even by gargoyle standards but he seems to be more occupied with napping than scaring off intruders. This big, sleeping gargoyle is right at home when displayed on top of a television, book case, or garden wall.

Gargoyles aren't typically known for their intelligence but Socrates, the Gargoyle Thinker breaks that stereotype by showing that these medieval monsters are capable of deep thoughts. Whether he is thinking about the role of the gargoyle in an increasingly technological world, or just who to eat next, Socrates stuns with realistic, life-like details.

Loved the look

Maxine from Central Pennsylvania reviewed the Emmett the Gargoyle Sculpture

Bottomline: Yes, would recommend to a friend.

Rating:

Comments: Emmet is quite adorable and I put him out on the garden path edge for display as soon as her arrived. However, he did not weather the outdoors very well and some of his exterior peeled. He's still usable and I brought him in for the winter, but I might not reccomend him for outdoor use due to his delicate finish.

Love all the detail!

JandasMom from Davenport, FL, USA reviewed the Boden Gargoyle Sentinel Sculpture

Bottomline: Yes, would recommend to a friend.

Rating:

Comments: My husband has wanted a gargoyle for years and when we found this site I just couldn't resist getting him the two he liked the best. He loves them! They were packaged in heavy duty styrofoam and sturdy cardboard and were in perfect condition when they arrived. The detail on them is phenomenal and they are a great size too. The only thing that could have made them better would have been if they had offered some kind of mounting bracket so we could secure them to the outside of the house. Otherwise we are tickled pink with Boden and his buddy Argos.

Resin Garden Statues as Gifts

Balancing a Dream Cherub Garden StatueGarden statuary doesn't have to be limited to your own decorating projects. Buy statues and sculptures of gnomes, fairies, and other subjects for friends and family and you might be surprised at how much they like such a gift. Resin statues and sculptures make for excellent gift items in part because people don't usually get them for a birthday or other occasion. They represent a fun change from the status quo while providing loved ones with long-lasting, beautiful decor.

Of course, you have to make sure that the sculptures you pick out will also be appreciated and loved by the person you are giving them to. For example, you probably don't want to pick out a gargoyle statue for someone who never watches horror films and has no interest in the fantasy genre. He or she probably won't appreciate even the best of gargoyle gifts so it's better to stick to something like animal garden statues or a beautiful stone garden angel. There are dozens of detailed animal sculptures to choose from and we have a veritable host of angels suited for every taste and garden.

Order these resin garden statue gifts and anything else on our site between now and February 14th and get 20% off the regular price.

Fun Gargoyle Gifts

Emmett the Gargoyle SculptureGargoyles are such an interesting type of garden statuary. Unlike their angelic counterparts, these statues are designed to scare away evil spirits and evil-doers and attempt to accomplish this with toothy grins, a formidable muscled appearance, big clawed hands, and intimidating bat-like wings. They are the very definition of frightening so it might seem odd to put them in the garden. Nevertheless, these mythical creatures can be quite endearing and many of us find them to be simply fascinating. They remind us of gothic cathedrals, royal European castles, and fairy tales. They lend a certain sort of enchantment to any garden and that's why gargoyle figurines also make excellent gifts for just about anyone.

Emmet the gargoyle sculpture is downright cute and looks about as intimidating as a puppy. In fact, he looks like he needs a friend and will find plenty of fans when placed in a prominent spot in the garden. On the other hand, you wouldn't want to go near The Chained Cathedral Gargoyle. There's a reason why this protective, feisty gargoyle is kept on a chain and he shows it with tensed muscled arms, outspread wings, and an open, toothed maw.

For a truly frightening gargoyle, you can't get much more terrifying than the sculpture of Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows. The fine details and savage of appearance of this gargoyle make it seem as if the beast  is ready to come to life!

Gothic Décor for the Dark Days of Winter

A northern winter is characterized by more than just cold, snowy conditions. For many people, the ice and Gaston, the Climbing Gothic Gargoyle Statuesubzero temperatures are much less of a problem than the lack of sunlight. The sun gets up later and sets much earlier than the glorious days of summer and if you work the day shift in the north, you might commute to and from work in the dark.

After several weeks of sun-poor days, it's easy to wonder if Edgar Allen Poe penned most of his Gothic classics during the winter. He would have probably loved a writing room decorated with a Raven's Perch Wall Sculpture and a Gargoyle statue or two. Given his writing style, such Gothic wall art might have cheered him up on days that were especially dim.

Such days can also inspire us to find beautiful Gothic decorations for all of our needs. The Gothic Cathedral Arch Mirror does much more than act as a mere looking glass. This stunning wall art is inspired by the windows of Gothic cathedrals and is finished with a unique process that gives it an ancient, foreboding appearance.

Provide light for this mirror and your hallways with breathtaking Gothic items like The Grim Reaper Illuminated Wall Sculpture and the Marshgate Castle Dragon Wall Sconce.

Buy these items, beautiful Gothic tables, and other Gothic decorations by the end of today, January 6th, and get 20% off the regular price.

A Garden Gargoyle Statue for Both The Backyard and Office

Garden statuary isn't just limited to the garden. A lot of pieces make statements in both the greenery of Detest the Rest Gargoyle Statuethe backyard and the office environment. Once summer has winded down and the leafless trees of winter have become part of the backyard landscape, some sculptures just look lonely out there in the garden. Better to bring those pieces indoors to cheer you up or act as a source of inspiration in the office. While most garden fairies look better in the backyard, some gargoyles look right at home in the office.

The comical Detest the Rest Gargoyle Statue can be a great addition to many an office. Unlike other gargoyles, Detest looks more annoyed than ready and willing to defend the castle or church. Since he looks miserable out there in the cold, you might as well bring him inside and put him in a corner of the home or right on your office desk. His scowling demeanor will make you feel as if someone understands during those frustrating and stressful of days. Since no one wants to look like a gargoyle, it may also remind you that the anger might not be worth the effort.

Welcome Guests with Stone Garden Angel Statues

The Bergama Renaissance Angel Statue: RightMost people receive more guests and do a lot more visiting themselves during the winter holiday season. There are more parties at this time of the year and people tend to make more efforts to see family and old friends. Given the high number of guests, it's also when we should pay more attention to how they are greeted.

Sure, you want to give everyone a warm, personal welcome but the greeting can start long before they reach your front door. Both short and long walkways can be used to greet guests in a variety of ways and it's best accomplished with statues. The power and permanence of such a greeting is attested to by the fact that castles, manors, and churches in many parts of the world have been doing just that for centuries. Some ancient cities even greeted visitors with statues that flanked the main roadway to the front gate.

The practice has been popular because statues can make a bold statement. While a gargoyle statue was partly meant to intimidate all who dare pass the threshold, if you wish, you can provide a much more gentle welcome with angel sculptures. Our Majestic Angel Guardians were crafted for an Italian cathedral and provide guests with a royal welcome at your gate. A pair of Bergama Ranaissance Angel Statues also make for a fine welcome to your home.

Get a 25% discount on these beautiful sculptures, garden fairies, and everything else on our site until tomorrow, December 12th!

Give Your Place a Medieval Touch with Gothic Décor

The Lord Raffles Grand Hall Lion Leg Coffee TableMedieval castles and keeps were decorated with some of the more interesting art and decor. Wall tapestries told stories in beautiful woven form. Paintings were commissioned along with sculptures of angels and other religious outdoor statues. Gargoyles perched on the tall stone walls and beautifully carved furniture contributed to the atmosphere of the castle.

Antique statues and tables that used to grace European castles and manors have become items for display in museums rather than for practical use. Nevertheless, you can still find fantastic Gothic tables, chairs, and even gargoyles on the Design Toscano site.

Get the gorgeous Raffle's Lion Leg Coffee Table to impress guests and live in Gothic splendor. Carved from Mahogany, this beautiful table is distressed just enough to resemble antique furniture. The lion paw legs and carvings of lions and heraldic crests on the sides of this table will make it one of the centerpiece items in any room.

For a truly Gothic touch, put a sculpture of a Raven on the wall of your den. Ravens have been honored for their intelligence and clever antics for centuries and became symbols of the Gothic genre after being immortalized by Edgar Allen Poe. The Raven's Perch Wall Sculpture captures the foreboding, cunning look of this bird in realistic detail.
