Sometimes it's hard to find gifts for the holidays because we just end up thinking about the same types of presents we gave the year before. It might be clothing or some useful item but we don't often think of giving decor for the backyard. This is a perfect gift for anyone who has at least some green space behind the house. If the person in question likes to spend time in the garden, that's even better, but anyone with a backyard could use high quality decor for the garden. Even if he or she already has a fine display of Greek garden statues or a fun bunch of garden gnomes, you can bet that they will love to take the wrapping off another statue for the yard.
To find the best garden statue for that special person, think about how they have decorated their yard along with their hobbies, what they like to read, and so on. If they only have gnomes and other cute garden statuary, garden fairies like the Dreamland Fairy Statue is a good bet. They might also like high quality animal garden statues like adorable Pongo, the Hanging Baby Orangutan. However, if that special person is a fan of science fiction or fantasy novels, buy gargoyles figurines like the Chained Cathedral Gargoyle Statue or a realistic dragon skull statue.

There are many types of presents that we can give for the holidays but the key to a good gift is finding one that will be appreciated or even adored by the recipient. If someone on your holiday gift list happens to love stories with dragons, plays fantasy video games, or is an aficionado of the horror genre, they are going to love it when they open that gift wrap and find a gargoyle statue. Gargoyles are classic decor that can give home and the garden an enchanting, magical touch. The different types of gargoyle sculptures also make it possible to find a gargoyle that fits into every decorating theme.
Cute Emmett the Gargoyle will look right at home in a backyard replete with cheerful garden gnomes, animal statues, and other light-hearted decor. Whether you put little Emmett off in a corner or right next to the back door, guests will love this littlest of gargoyles.
If you would rather see a classic, fierce, and intimidating gargoyle, Boden the Sentinel fits the bill with sharp claws, half open wings, and a no-nonsense expression on its fanged face. Put Boden on one side of a garden path and Argos the Sentinel Gargoyle on the other for full magnificent effect. If those are too fierce, you can go back to the cute route with The Picc-a-Dilly Gargoyles Sculpture Set.
Buy these gargoyles and any of the unique items on the Design Toscano site by the end of Sunday, November 17th and pay nothing for regular shipping.

Dragons can be mystical, enchanting, and wise, but we should never overlook their fierce nature. Many are the stories and legends of a powerful, dangerous dragon that needs to be avoided and/or appeased at all costs. To do otherwise might invoke its fiery rage and could doom the entire community. To resolve that perilous problem, the local villagers either send some sort of tribute or a hero to rid themselves of the beast. Hence, we have the legend of the dragon slayer but despite the danger associated with dragons, we continue to be spellbound by these mythical, magical creatures. They represent a fierce beauty that comes to life in fantasy novels and movies, and whenever they are depicted, the audience can't help but be impressed by their dangerous, majestic beauty.
You can bring that same detailed beauty into your garden with many of our dragon sculptures. The Mystic Dragon Avenger Statue shows the fierce side of the dragon with sharp details and a fanged snout. As it coils around its magic orb, this striking dragon somewhat resembles a gargoyle meant to protect your garden.
For a fierce and functional dragon, try Ranier, the Sculptural Dragon Rainspout. Put this unique garden statue at the end of a gutter and it will look as if the scaled beast is breathing fire every time it pours.

Many of us do the same for the yard and hope to impress holiday party guests with unique, funny, and stunning decorations. Dragons have been immortalized in paintings, sculptures, and folk tales for thousands of years. Although we often associate dragons with European knights, stories of winged, scaled monsters date back much longer than Medieval times. Depictions of dragons have also been found on ancient Sumerian artifacts and even on much earlier rock art. Although the reason why tales of dragons are found in dozens of cultures continues to be a mystery, that doesn't stop fantasy writers from putting them into their own stories nor artists from crafting fantastic dragon statues. They also make a wonderful garden statuary statement, especially when depicted as realistic creatures that perch on top of a roof or crafty magical beasts that scale the garden walls.
Dread the Dangling Dragon Wall Sculpture is a lively winged dragon that is clearly happy to be climbing up the wall. His scaled appearance, toothy grin, and formidable claws make this a classic dragon sculpture suited for the walls, trees, or other perches of home and garden. Pair it with a realistic Stoker's Moors Dragon Skull Statue to add to the Draconian effect.
The Warsin Dragon Statue is another climbing dragon and one with a classic look that fits right in with a Gothic-themed backyard or a garden that hosts a fine display of Greek garden statuary and stone garden angels.

Gargoyle figurines have been used as decor for centuries. At first, they played a role as functional decorations used for scaring off supposed evil spirits and enemies of churches and castles but since then, have morphed into Gothic decor meant to act as classic decorations for home and business. That said, as with any type of decor, you can't just put a gargoyle on display and expect it to look both intimidating and incredible. The place where a gargoyle is displayed affects the nature of the decor just as much as the level of experience and imagination of the artist who made it. The best duo of places to put a gargoyle sculpture on display are:
Next to an entranceway in the backyard: Gargoyles are sentinels and guardian statues by nature. Take advantage of those characteristics and put gargoyles just past the gate to the backyard and just outside the back door of your home. Gargoyle statues like the Florentine Gargoyle and the Boden Gargoyle Sentinel are perfect for this purpose.
Hanging from a wall: Gargoyles are at home on the ramparts and walls of a castle, old cathedral, and your home. They like to hang out in high places to better intimidate and maybe even swoop down upon anyone who dares enter into their territory. Buy Gaston, the Climbing Gothic Gargoyle Statue to decorate the walls of your home or business with a fantastic classic climbing gargoyle.

Fantasy and magical creatures have played a big role in garden statuary for much longer than most people realize. Statues of fawns and other magical beings were put on display in temple gardens of ancient Greece, sculptures of mystical animals are commonly seen on old Mayan ruins, and the ancient Egyptians sculpted many a statue in the likeness of deities that were half human and half animal. In the Middle Ages, sculptures of gargoyles and a variety of magical beings were placed on European churches and on the ramparts of castles. Many of the statues in Victorian era gardens were also based on beings that only lived in the realm of fantasy and similar sculptures continue to be popular to this day.
While we don't think of garden gnomes and garden fairies as being based on magical beings, they most certainly are and you don't have to go all that far in the past to find cultures and societies that believed in creatures like pixies, elves, and other forms of "little folk". In fact, some people and a few cultures still believe in strange, small beings that can play tricks on the unwary and cause problems for those who fail to leave offerings or respect the sacred places where they dwell. Although you can't expect to see any of the little folk in your backyard (they are notorious for staying out of sight), it's still fun to pay homage to those tales with beautiful garden fairies like the Daydream Fairy Sculpture and the Sunflower Fairy Statue.
Find these and dozens of other detailed, enchanting fairy statues in our garden fairy statue collection.

Stories of mermaids have enthralled and terrified sailors for centuries. The idea of irresistible beauties who charm men with magical voices to then drown them in the briny depths of the sea might sound like a ridiculous fairy tale in modern times, but in pre-scientific days, such superstitions were taken to heart. A lot of strange, unexplained things happen out on the open ocean and stories of mermaids were just one way of attempting to explain why some ships seemed to disappear without a trace, or why some sailors appeared to become enchanted and jump into the sea. Although we know now that rogue waves and bad weather are the forces that usually sink ships and that countless days on the sea with little food and water can cause hallucinations, mermaids continue to be a popular theme of cartoons, books, movies, and decor.
Although actual mermaids have yet to be discovered, you can find some of the more enchanting ones in our garden statuary collection. The Daydreaming Mermaid of Langeline Cove Statue is a classic mermaid statue that captures your attention with a finely scaled fish tale and other beautiful details. Measuring more than a yard in length and in height, this enchanting statue will charm both you and your garden guests. Pair this high quality garden statue withe colorful Melody's Cove Mermaid Wall Sculpture.

As everyone who has shopped for garden statuary knows, it's a challenge to find appropriate sculptures for your backyard. Although it's fairly easy to go to some big box store and find garden statues, they are usually over-priced, of poor quality, and don't look very nice. Nevertheless, many of us have opted for one of those cheap garden statues anyway because we just didn't know where else to look for them. However, that changes once you discover the wealth of garden statues at Design Toscano. The following are three of the basic reasons why so many people choose Design Toscano for resin garden statues:
Quality: You could say that we are really into decor at Design Toscano and that's why we only sell sculptures, furniture, and other items that attain a certain degree of quality. Many of our furniture items are hand-carved from beautiful mahogany, and we offer dozens of realistic animal garden statues. We only sell sculptures that we would use in our own backyards and that's why only offer stunning statues like Fiona the Flower Fairy.
Artistic value: Our sculptures, wall decor, and other items are designed by artists. This adds to the unique character and striking nature of items like Boden the Gargoyle Sculpture.
Price: We hold frequent sales, offer many of our high quality decor for a discount, and given the quality and unique nature of our decor, probably sell them for much lower than what most people expect.

With so many gargoyle figurines in our collection, it might be tough to pick out the best gargoyles for your Halloween garden. Nevertheless, if you want to put out a truly frightening and unique display for this Halloween season, finding the best gargoyles for the yard will pay dividends in the form of screams, nervous laughter, and fun Halloween memories. Use the following trio of tips to find Gargoyle statues that convert your place into an amazing display of frighteningly good decor:
Go for realism: In general, the more real the gargoyle sculpture, the bigger the impact it has on guests. Your Halloween friends will love the look on the face of Socrates the Gargoyle Thinker Statue and will be impressed by its muscled appendages, sharp claws, and big bat wings.
Get at least one terrifying gargoyle statue: It's fun to have Halloween decor that provokes laughter and entertains our guests but what would this spooky holiday be without some truly scary decor? This holiday also calls for terrifying decor and Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows plays the part with sharp, pointed features, a menacing glare, and intimidating details.
Buy a gargoyle that hangs off a wall: With their bat wings, Gargoyles are far from terrestrial in nature. They actually prefer to perch on the ramparts and hang off of walls. Gaston, the Gothic Climber does this with ease and stares down at guests with an evil grin.

Halloween is much more than entertaining trick or treaters with candy and frightening decor. It's also a celebration and we show it by attending and throwing Halloween parties. These aren't just any old parties either but festivities that include Halloween-themed games, food, spooky music, and more. Two of the essentials for any Halloween party are costumes and decor. They help turn a regular get together into a memorable Halloween bash and decor plays a huge role in determining whether your party is a hit or one that ends up being forgotten a few days later. The following are three animal garden sculpture ideas to turn your Halloween bash into an unforgettable event:
Bigfoot, the Bashful Yeti Tree Sculpture: Yes, Sasquatch is an animal too and one that makes a perfect fit for Halloween. Display this detailed depiction of the North American Ape on a tree in the backyard and it will be a frightening reminder to stay out of the woods (or your backyard) at night!
The Bad Intentions Giant Warthog Garden Statue: Add character to your Halloween decor with this intimidating statue! Modeled after one of the roughest, toughest wild pigs on the planet, the sharp, long tusks and stout, mean look of our Warthog makes it look like a natural gargoyle!
Growling Gray Wolf Statue: Use this very realistic statue of a growling wild wolf to give your yard a truly frightening touch.

For most of the year, gargoyle sculptures play somewhat of a secondary role when it comes to garden statuary. Unless you have a Gothic-themed garden, they usually lurk in the background instead of being a centerpiece sculpture. That all changes during the month of October. As with so many other creatures of the night, the weeks leading up to October 31st are when gargoyles look best and these classic scary beasts look simply fantastic when used as Halloween decorations. The right type of gargoyle figurines can give your yard that extra bit of frightening, unique decor to make it one of the most memorable displays in town.
Greet guests with creepy gargoyle statues such as The Legend of Cambridge Hopping Gargoyle and Beelzebub the Prince of Demons to show that this isn't any old Halloween party. After they walk past and admire those excellent intimidating statues, turn your frightening gargoyle display up a notch with the incredible Scatheus, Guardian of the Shadows Gargoyle. Scatheus lives up to its name with fierce details, a terrifying face, looming pointed bat wings, and claw-tipped hands.
Halloween might also be the only time of the year when a host of gargoyles are welcome inside the home. Entertain your party guests with the fierce likes of Talisman, Gargoyle of the Eclipse, and cute gargoyles like Babble, the Gothic Gargoyle Sculpture.

When some people think of garden statuary, images of Greek garden statues or a beautiful stone garden angel may come to mind. While such sculptures certainly make stunning additions to the backyard, they aren't the only type of statuary that adds beauty to the garden. Some sculptures are functional in addition to acting as decor and one such very useful type of garden statuary is the stone garden bench. The stone bench has played a role as garden decor for more than 2,000 years and hasn't changed all that much since the times of the ancient Greeks except for being made of sturdy resin materials and cast stone instead of quarried materials.
Statues such as the Blair Castle Sculptural Gargoyle Bench are a wonderful addition to backyards that feature classic sculptures or follow a Medieval decorating theme. Use this unique bench as a place to put your books during warm weather and then bring it inside for use as a Medieval table during the winter. For an absolutely regal look, you can't go wrong with the stunning Giant Neoclassical Swan Garden Bench. Take a seat in this fantastic garden statuary item and you will feel as if you are living a Victorian dream. To round out your display of statuary, remember a loved one with one or more of our personalized memorial garden benches.

It might still be warm outside but the cool, crisp days of autumn are just a few weeks away. As the weather gets cooler, many of us start to think about putting our favorite garden fairies, gnomes, and other resin garden statues back into storage. However, at the same time, we also need to start thinking about how we are gong to decorate the backyard for one of the most entertaining holidays of the year. Halloween is going to be here in the blink of an eye and a big part of that fun holiday is turning the backyard into a temporary display of haunting, frighteningly good decor.
This Halloween, instead of sticking to the same old cut-outs of ghosts, glow in the dark skeletons, and pumpkin-themed decor, reward yourself and friends with the gift of gargoyle figurines and get serious with your spooky display. Shock and impress guests with detailed and realistic gargoyles such as Draga the Gargoyle Vampire Statue. Not only does this finely carved fiend watch over your Halloween party guests, but it also wants to bite their necks and shows it with a sinister look and sharp fangs.
While Draga watches guests from a corner of the yard, greet them at the door with fantastic sentinel gargoyles such as Argos and Boden. The sharp, regal details, toothy maws, and impressive appearance of these gargoyle statues will tell guests that they have just walked into the best Halloween party in town.

Part of the beauty of garden statuary stems from the ability to provide an actual function in addition to making your place look simply majestic. For example, the backyard is going to look stunning with a fine display of Greek Garden Statues but a couple of outdoor garden water fountains add a further, fantastic dimension to garden decor. The same can be said of creative weather vanes and rain spouts, especially when they come in the form of a dragon. The dragon rain spout continues the Medieval tradition of using gargoyles and dragon sculptures to channel rain off the roofs of cathedrals, castles, and other large buildings. While such functional sculptures during Medieval times were limited to the clergy and nobility, nowadays, such eye-catching Gothic rain spouts are available to anyone who wants to give their home a unique, Medieval touch.
The Giant Cross-Toed Dragon Rain Spout is modeled after dragon gargoyle spouts on Gothic cathedrals and thus shows a similar large, open muzzle, fierce expression, and craggy, crossed toes that grip its base. This stunning dragon statue can either be installed to funnel rain off of the roof or be used as a stand alone dragon statue that guards the entrance to your home. Complement it with such stunning sculptural dragon rain spouts as Ranier and Darian.
