The desert is a stark, beautiful place. The vegetation might be covered in spines and thorns but it has its own sort of unique architecture, the sunsets are fantastic, and scenery is inspirational at every turn. The lack of water has also resulted in animals just as interesting as the Saguaros and tumbleweeds. Putting sculptural representations of those animals in the garden is especially fitting in places with an arid climate, in rock gardens, and in backyards that already show a fun display of animal garden statuary.
One of the signature species of the American deserts is the Greater Roadrunner. While most people might only be familiar with this funny bird as a cartoon character, in real life, it happens to be a common, ground dwelling bird of the American southwest. This terrestrial cuckoo species trots along dry creek beds to hunt for small lizards, mice, and even small rattlesnakes. "The Great Roadrunner" Statue captures the determination and speed of this funny bird with fine details and accurate colors.
Another unique desert creature that makes a fine addition to many a backyard is the "Frill-Necked Lizard" Statue. Closely modeled after the frilled lizards that live in the hot, dry deserts of Australia, this high quality animal yard statue is a very close representation of the real thing.
